Harlem Nights at Crooners: A Halloween Night in Full Costume

Bruce Brilliance, Bianca Love, Pierre Douglas, Juice Sutton and Ashley Henderson in 1930s suits on the Crooners stage

Halloween landed on a Saturday this year, and Minneapo-Laughs took over Crooners Supper Club in Fridley for Harlem Nights: Comedy Show and Costume Party. Great turnout. An amazing show. A bomb venue.

Pictured up top, left to right: Bruce Brilliance, Bianca Love, Pierre Douglas, Juice Sutton and Ashley Henderson.

We asked for 1930s fashion and y’all delivered: fedoras, feathers, pearls, sequins and pinstripes at every table. Even the servers dressed for the theme.

I got to share that stage with a stacked lineup.

Pierre Douglas smiling at the microphone in a pinstripe vest and watch chain — Your host, Pierre Douglas

A guest in a black lace glove covering her mouth while laughing at her table

Juice Sutton on stage with wide eyes in a plaid suit, red vest and newsboy cap — Joseph “Juice” Sutton

Bianca Love on stage in a newsboy cap, brown vest and bow tie — Bianca Love

A guest in pearls and a blue lace gown laughing with her hand over her face beside the microphone

Ashley Henderson mid-joke in a white shirt, suspenders and round glasses — Ashley Henderson

Costumed guests in the crowd reacting to a joke, some laughing and some making faces

As for me, I spent part of my set complaining about my own goth elf shoes. Worth it.

Thank you to Crooners, to Pierre, Juice, Bianca and Ashley, and to everybody who came out in costume. Next up: the Beaver Island Comedy Series in St. Cloud on Saturday, November 21. See upcoming shows.
